How to get here

The picture above shows the Western Isles ferry about to arrive at Uig Pier on a sunny winter's day.  Our bed and breakfast, and campsite office, are the last but one of the row of houses along the shore from the pier.  The campsite itself is a long grassy strip (a former croft) across the road from the house.

So if you are coming from Tarbert or Lochmaddy on the ferry, just turn left as soon as you are off the pier and you will be at the campsite in no time.  Visit the Calmac site for the latest Ferry Timetables (if planning your holiday in advance make sure you choose the summer or winter timetable as appropriate)

If you are driving from the mainland, there are three ways to get to Skye.  The most straightforward is the Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin, but there is also a Calmac ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, or the summer-only Skye Car Ferry from Glenleg to Kylerhea, but note that the road to Glenelg is not recommended for caravans.

If you come via either of these ferries, follow the signs for Broadford or Portree until you are on the A87.  If you come via the bridge you will already be on the A87.  Follow the A87 all the way to Uig Pier.  Continue as if you were going to drive onto the pier, and then take the right-hand turning just before the pier starts, and we are a short distance down that road as described above.

If you are coming by bus, the Citylink coach goes to Uig Ferry Terminal direct from Glasgow, Fort William and Inverness, with connections from all parts of Scotland.  There is also a local bus service from Portree run by Rapsons Coaches

The nearest train station is at Kyle of Lochalsh, from where you can get the Citylink bus.  See Scotrail site for train times.

The nearest airports are at Inverness on the mainland, and Benbecula and Stornoway on the Western Isles.
