The Skye Road Bridge, with the Black Cuillins in the distance
Our bed and breakfast, and campsite office, are the last but one of the row of houses along the shore from the pier. The campsite itself is a long grassy strip (a former croft) across the road from the house.
If you are driving or cycling from the mainland, the most straightforward route is over the Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin. Once you are over the bridge, choose the last exit from the roundabout and stay on the A87. The road to Uig is marked on all signposts from this point, but some are only in Gàidhlig - look for Úige on these. You can obtain directions from Eilean Bàn (the middle of the Skye Bridge) in Google Maps here.
Ferries are also available from either the Outer Hebrides or the mainland - please see above for directions and GPX files.
Calmac ferries are available directly from Tarbert and Lochmaddy to Uig. just turn left as soon as you are off the pier (immediately after the Bakur Bar and Pier Restaurant) and travel along to the end of the road. Visit the Calmac site for the latest Ferry Timetables (if planning your holiday in advance, make sure you choose the summer or winter timetable as appropriate).
CalMac ferry MV Hebrides sailing into Uig Bay
Calmac ferries are available from Mallaig to Armadale. Additionally, in the summer only, the Skye Car Ferry is operational from Glenleg to Kyle Rhea (note that this route is not recommended for caravans).
In any of the above three cases, follow the signs for the A87 towards Broadford or Portree (if you come via the Skye Bridge, you will already be on this road) until you come to Uig Pier. Just before you actually drive on to the pier, there will be a road at Bakur Bar & Pierside Restaurant on your right-hand-side. Follow this short road and the campsite is at the end.
You can obtain directions in Google Maps to Uig Campsite from Armadale here, or from Kylerhea here.
If you are coming by bus, the Citylink coach goes to Uig Ferry Terminal direct from Glasgow, Fort William and Inverness, with connections from all parts of Scotland. There is also a local bus service from Portree run by Stagecoach (formerly Rapsons).
The nearest train station is at Kyle of Lochalsh (before the Skye Bridge on the mainland), from where you can get the Citylink bus. See Scotrail site for train times.
The nearest airports are at Inverness on the mainland, and Benbecula and Stornoway on the Western Isles. Once you land, you will either need to take the ferry or bus - please see above for guidance.
